RS Job Opportunity: Aquaculture Seafood Standards Consultant

RS Standards has an exciting opportunity for an ‘Aquaculture Seafood Standards Consultant’ to join our seafood team in our dynamic international standards and
consulting organisation.

The role will involve servicing clients and opportunities mainly in Ireland, but our services expand into the UK, Europe, North and South America, and Asia.

RS Standards has been at the forefront of new aquaculture and fisheries standards and seafood improvement frameworks for over ten years. We have been leading initiatives across the seafood sector; feed, farms, fisheries, vessels and processing, as well as area management, responsible plastic management and sustainability.

now seeking a dynamic Seafood Consultant with a strong focus on standards development and management to join our team and help us further our mission.

The successful candidate will play a key role within the RS team acting as the primary interface with designated clients on consultation projects of significant scale and will be reporting to an RS Director. 

You will work closely with our team to provide expert guidance to clients, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to the advancement of our industry-leading
initiatives, particularly in the area of standards development and digital seafood assurance.

Key responsibilities will include; offering technical and subject matter expertise, coaching, facilitation, and report writing. It is important to be able to assimilate policy,
regulatory and technical information into various formats, communication styles and objective reports. 

We are seeking a self-motivated team player, with a proven track record in analysing information and preparing accurate, technical and evidence-based reports for
clients. Engaging with clients and excellent communication skills are a must.

As a minimum, candidates should have a degree in a relevant biological discipline, supplemented with appropriate work and project experience.

The preferred location for the successful candidate is the island of Ireland but UK locations may be considered. The successful candidate will be home based but
travel in and around Ireland, the UK and possibly international will be required to service client requirements.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate aquaculture and seafood sectorknowledge and understandings including:

A good grasp of aquaculture development strategy in Ireland, Europe and elsewhere for the major fish and shellfish species groups, and the major challenges, constraints and opportunities.

Understanding of the seafood supply chain from fishery resourcemanagement, harvest, seafood manufacture to the consumer.

Technical and operational understanding of major production and harvestmethods in aquaculture and fisheries

Competency in seafood handling and food safety systems including, HACCP, hygiene, traceability, risk management and rootcause analysis.

Knowledge of and understanding of the main international third party seafood standards and programs (including; GGAP, GSA, ASC, EU Organic, MSC, MarinTrust, RFM), other key stakeholders and environmental groups.

Ability to communicate at different levels with various industry, government, community and non-government organisations.

Knowledge of quality, environmental, sustainability, responsible sourcing approaches including 17021/65, 14001, SDG’s, ESG, CSR.

Previous experience in assessments to third party standards in seafood.
