New beginnings and horizons – A reflection from our new senior consultant, Michaela Archer
Joining the RS Standards team back in June has brought me into a familiar yet very different world. Working with clients that span the whole supply chain has introduced new layers of learning and looking at issues from a different perspective.
Having worked at Seafish for over 20 years, most recently as Head of Insight, I am used to a keeping a watching brief on issues and getting involved in a wide variety of work with a huge array of stakeholders. My remit covered a broad spectrum from social responsibility, wild capture fish welfare, microplastics, seafood quality and safety, by-products right across to the latest trends in the UK seafood market. Developing standards wasn’t new to me having worked with RS Standards on the Responsible Fishing Ports Scheme for several years.
Our clients have been generous with their time to help me understand their programmes. What really stands out is their ambition, passion and drive to improve current practices in the supply chain, to support continuous improvement and work with stakeholders to build assurance. It really is inspiring to see the work and effort that goes on ‘behind the scenes’, with RS Standards a valuable part of that.
One example is the work we are doing with MarinTrust to help develop their new Standard. This is a huge team effort between RS, MarinTrust and other experts to help shape the next version over the next 12 months.
Being part of the RS team enables creativity and thinking outside the box. It’s a small team with a vast amount of knowledge and expertise, providing added benefit for our clients. I’m excited to be a part of it, the past two months have flown by. I’m looking forward to what comes next, to working with our existing clients and welcoming new clients on board. The world of consultancy is certainly never dull!
RS Standards are delighted to welcome Michaela into our team and if you would like to find out more about our work or how we can help, please contact her today.
